Richard Eigenmann works for a Private Bank in Zürich, Switzerland. He has been programming computers since 1983. After Y2K he taught himself Java and used it to write JPO. He uses JPO for his own picture collection.

JPO was written in Zürich, Switzerland but also while on vacation in South Africa and th Caribbean. The sites JPO was coded at include aeroplanes, trains, cars, safari camps, sail boats, botanical gardens, restaurants, bars and swimming pools.
